<- BACK TO PORTFOLIO - DOCUMENTARY - SHANGHAI - A CITY BETWEEN UNDERDOGS AND UPPERCLASS

The port city of Shanghai is the largest city in China and also the strongest growth metropolis of the country. The history of the city differs from other Chinese cities in that it has been home to numerous Europeans since the mid-19th century. The city was notorious for its pronounced underworld, the opium caves of Shanghai were a stagnant expression, and the seafaring press was spoken down as Shanghaien. Around 1980, a not yet completed economic rise began, making Shanghei a modern economic center. Today, the city is one of the world's major cities.
